Daybreak - Knitting is DONE!
Tomorrow, I'll give it a bath and block it, but the actual knitting is done. I used 97% of my one skein of Schaeffer Yarns Heather (color: Toni Morrison) - a gift from my dear friend Merry - and had about 14 yards to spare when I finished. In the second section, I thought it was looking small and that I would have extra yarn, but no such luck. If I hadn't done an extra "stripe" repeat, I probably could have finished section three, but as it was, I had to bind off after the third purl ridge instead of knitting till I had six ridges.
We'll see how it looks after I've blocked it, but I suspect it will be more like a scarf of neckerchief than a small shawl, but that's OK. Next time I knit it, I'll make sure I have lots & lots of yarn so that I can knit a larger size. I think I would also use US size 5 or 6 needles instead of the specified 4's for the drape factor.

Beautiful....really pretty! Merry may be wishing she'd kept this for herself:)
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward to seeing the finished blocked results.
