Miami (1) - Fourth of July

Gil's mom, Maria, wanted to cook Puerto Rican food for us, so Ruthie planned a get-together for the fourth.  First, Maria came around 11:00 and made a brunch feast for everyone.

Later, Gil's brother Felix, his (Felix's) youngest daughter, Tekwila (sp?), and her friend Hilda joined us for big dinner Maria laid out.  It all looked so good!  Pork loin, beans, white rice, empanadas, platanos, garlic bread,  gravy, and broccoli and a big salad (last two provided by yours truly).  As you might expect, the only part of what Maria made that I could eat was the pork, but I managed just fine.

In addition to the meal, there was dominoes (with smacktalk) and a few games of Apples to Apples (also served with a side of smacktalk).  Later, a perfect combination of watching five or so different fireworks shows while we lit off our own - all without having to go farther than just outside the back yard to the cart path on the golf course!
