You can't really tell in the picture, but they weren't silver-colored pleather; they were silver GLITTER. I hope I have that much spunk at her age! (She was Filipina, so if she looked like she was 70, then she was probably really 102 years old.)

Who Needs Ruby Slippers?
Across the hall from our dyeing class on Thursdays is a social dance party put on by a Filipino seniors' organization in our city. The folks who attend get all fancied up, and it's clearly one of the highlights of their week. I was walking down the all behind one of the ladies today (at least 70 years old, snow white hair, fancy clothes) and just HAD to Kinnear this picture of her silver shoes:
